Hi all --

Back to Rock Creek Park DC (despite plans to the contrary) to see if we could relocate the Connecticut Warbler seen yesterday by Derek Richardson. Unfortunately, it proved elusive but the Equitation Field had a nice flight early (mostly Black-Throated Greens and kinglets of both species). It got quiet and we went over to the Maintenance Yard, where Jim Lemert found another CONNECTICUT WARBLER near the Palownia tree -- this is the fourth this autumn for RC. Sparrows are definitely IN now! The Yard was pretty lively for a few hours, and I added an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER to the growing list. It was in a little flock with two Tennessees and a Nashville. Barry saw a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, a species that's been thin on the ground this fall. Then Barry and I did Military Field where we found some other goodies including a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.

Birds seen included:

Warblers: Black-throated Green (~12), Black-throated Blue (6), Blackpoll (3), Blackburnian (1), Black & White (1), Connecticut (1), Magnolia (8), Nashville (2), Palm (3, yellow), Redstart (1), Tennessee (2), Common Yellowthroat (15).

Other migrants: Kestrel (1, OH), Sapsucker (6), Wood-pewee (3), Phoebe (8), Empid sp. (1), Red-eyed Vireo (3), Wood Thrush (2), Gray-cheeked Thrush (1), Catharus sp. (4), Scarlet Tanager (8-9, most male), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (3), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (8), Golden-crowned Kinglet (10), Winter Wren (2), House Wren (6), Catbird (30), Brown Thrasher (5), White-throated Sparrow (~35), Song Sparrow (~25), Swamp Sparow (3), Chipping Sparrow (2), Lincoln's Sparrow (1), Indigo Bunting (5). Still quite a few Robins and Flickers passing through as well.
