The Eurasian Collared Dove was present this a.m. at 08:15, perched on the
chimney just west of the nursery, which
can be seen from the roadside, just past the line of spruces. At 08:30, it
flew off, apparently losing a contest with
some starlings for possession of the chimney top. It disappeared, but then
popped up on the cherry tree in the
northwest part of the Stadler lot, giving diagnostic tail view. It then
dropped down, and pecked about in the grass
at the base of the spruces, where it could be viewed through the fence from
Stadler's.
The staff at Stadler's remain congenial. Gates open at 07:00 on the
weekdays.
