Nice activity in Ft. Bayard Park this morning, though I'm not sure it was really a major push of new birds--it may have just been mostly the same ones gettiing more active now that it's a bit less windy.
Five warbler species: Chestnut-sided (female), Magnolia, Redstart, Blackpoll, and Common Yellowthroat (all singing adult males).
The Yellowthroat is actually the most unusual of the bunch--I only have one previous record for the park, a female last spring. He's a new arrival and probably won't stay long.
Also a nice treat was a large number of Swainson's Thrushes--at least 4, with 3 singing.
A Pewee and a singing Scarlet Tanager and Baltimore Oriole rounded out the birds of interest. The oriole appears to have staked out a territory here, but as far as I can tell, he hasn't attracted anyone to share it with yet.
