I had a dental appointment this afternoon. My dentist's office looks out
over the Susquehanna River. While sitting in the chair, I only saw a few
gulls. When I returned to my car, I looked over the river again and only
saw more gulls. Then I noticed that there appeared to be something
sitting on an Osprey nest on the Amtrak bridge. I thought it was a
little early for Osprey and when I looked with my binoculars, it
appeared to be a Bald Eagle (the nest was about 1/2 mile away) so I got
out my telescope and saw that it was a pair of adult Bald Eagles. After
I put the scope away and got back in my car, I saw the eagles mating.
The eagles were still on the nest when I checked back about 90 minutes
later. It will be interesting to see if the eagles are taking over the
Osprey nest and plan to nest there. It will be very cramped for a family
of eagles unless they enlarge the nest. I will keep an eye on the nest.
At Swan Harbor Farms, I saw 3 American Wigeon and 2 Black Ducks in with
the Mallards.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
