Hello all.
I spent the better part of the morning birding northern Anne Arundel
County.
I knew that this birding weekend would go well when as I left Roland Park
yesterday afternoon, I was greeted by a Pileated Woodpecker calling and
foraging less than 30 feet from my car.
Highlights from today:
Lake Shore Athletic Complex (Pasadena):
This spot has some good brushy areas with a few good sized stands of
deciduous trees.
Bald Eagle: 1 Flyover, adult
C. Waxwing: over 100
Hairy Woodpecker: 1
Hermit Thrush: 4 Always fun to see
Brown Thrasher: 1 Somewhat of a surprise
RC Kinglet: 3
GC Kinglet: 1
E. Towhee: 7 in one area excitied by a calling C. Wren
WT Sparrow: at least 30 total
Song Sparrow: 5
Swamp Sparrow: 1
Junco: 20+ total
A. Goldfinch: 4
H. Finch: 6
Riveria Beach:
C. Loon: 1
G. Blue Heron: 1
DC Cormorant: a few
Bufflehead: 2 rafts, about 20 birds each
Sunset Beach:
Bufflehead: 19
