Highlights from my cold morning walk around Schoolhouse Pond included
close views of a beautiful Fox Sparrow among many White-throats and Song
Sparrows, close views of a Golden-crowned Kinglet, a flyover adult Bald
Eagle (at first light), and a perched Sharp-shinned Hawk. Also present
was an Eastern Towhee, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, many
Robins (flyovers and in trees), and flyover Laughing, Ring-billed, and
Herring Gulls. Yesterday there were 10 Northern Shovelers and 2 Gadwall,
but I could not locate them this morning.
