I would recommend a visit to One Good Tern (in Alexandria) which advertises in the ANS News. The owner is a binocular enthusiast and has field-tested a large number of brands and has them on hand in his shop. We visited last year and were quite impressed, I got a chance to try out the top-of-line Bruntons which I had only seen in adverts. He also has a selection of good but less expensive models, and a good selection of telescopes. ANS Bookstore also has binoculars at hand, although not a wide a variety.
