Hi all,
I did see the Neotrop this afternoon. It was perched on a rock in mid-river
a bit downstream from the usual snag. It was alone the whole time we watched
it, but a couple of DC corms were swimming around for comparison. It sat and
stretched, preened, yawned, etc. before flying off upriver about 3:40 or so.
It flew way upriver then turned around and flew into the golf course just
above the concrete outake facility on the VA shore. The light this afternoon was
such that we got great looks at key features that were not visible last
Friday when I was there, due to the flat light last week.
Also, I left my jacket on the bank, laying on a rock. It is an olive green
waist length Old Navy coat, and if someone picks it up tomorrow maybe they can
get it in the hands of a Montgomery Bird CLub member and I can get it back.
It has a pair of black polypropylene gloves in the left pocket, otherwise it
is not marked with my name.
