Kurt,
I've noticed a number of egrets in the trees there over the past few weeks,
but I don't think I ever saw fifteen or more at a time. My wife has taken to
calling them TREE-grets when she sees them on the drive in.
Thanks for the post on them and my apologies to the list for not mentioning
them myself. I guess it sort of reminds me of an old Frank Sinantra song....

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Egrets on the Anacostia
Date: Wed, 26 Oct 2005 19:08:49 -0400
This morning, as my commuter bus crossed the bridge on East
Capitol St. over the Anacostia at about 7:05 a.m., I noticed
that the trees on the north side, east side of the island,
were festooned with quite a few large, white blobs. I counted
fifteen as we sped by, but there were more. The low light,
the sun having not risen yet, made a definite i.d. impossible,
but I suspect they must have been Great Egrets, Snowies being
unusual this far inland.
