Hey all, had an OSPREY today hanging out with two TURKEY
VULTURES and two RED-TAILED HAWKS over the golf course along
the Paint Branch Stream Valley Park bike trail in College
Park (PG County). I saw an Osprey yesterday actually at
Lake Artemesia as well -- maybe the same individual?
Other highlights today: a HAIRY WOODPECKER, a pair of
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, a WOOD THRUSH, lots of YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS, and a single COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. Full report
(submitted to eBird) below:

Are you reporting all the species you identified? Yes
Total # of species: 25
Observation type: Traveling Count
Start time: 9:50 AM

Area covered: N/A
Weather had a negative effect on my ability to collect

Checklist diary notes:
A beautiful day on the path: mostly sunny, fairly stiff
breeze. The Osprey was a surprise -- perhaps the same
individual seen yesterday at Lake Artemesia? Unidentified:
some distant geese, a flyby duck (shallow, quick wingbeats),
a flyby falcon-like bird, a distant gull sp. May have been a
second Hairy. Another birder reported juncos on
the trail; I didn't see any (got the Wood Thrush instead!).
Also, at the university: one dead catbird, probably due to
collision with overhead windowed walkway (Animal Sciences
building).
