Jenny,
I do feel your pain! We live in a townhome in Ashton, in fact we are the
oldest residents here, having lived here for almost 20 years. I have a small
common area island out front with scruffy grass and a medium sized pin oak,
where we have always maintained our feeding station. Just this spring we got a
notice from the management company telling us to take down the feeders.
Eventually I did, but not until after migration was over. Years ago I also put out a
half-whiskey barrel with a torulosa juniper so the birds would have
someplace to hide from the cats and sharpies, etc. I even went as far as pruning the
plant this spring so the local cat couldn't hide beneath it. Then another
letter, telling me to remove it or they would. Well one evening recently I took
the dog out after work around 6, and the barrel was there, but was gone when
my wife came home later, so apparently they got tired of waiting.

It seems so lonely out front now, but I still have my hummers out back!
