I spent Sunday and Monday atlasing in Talbot County. I had quite a few
confirmations, including Green Heron (adult feeding fledgling),
Brown-headed Nuthatch (adult feeding fledgling), and Black Vulture (bird
that was seen in a barn still had a trace of down), but there were signs
that the atlasing season is rapidly coming to a close. In addition to
several Solitary Sandpipers and Ring-billed Gulls, I encountered my first
mixed fall woodland flock, which included a very nice Canada Warbler.
Unfortunately, the local chiggers are continuing to breed in force, and I
will spend the next several weeks reminded of their presence.
