Hi all just a quick note to say that in Centreville on 7 - 23 at Rt 304
and 301 near the back entrance to the State police barrecks were 2
recently fledged young Black Vultres free flying but not far just into
the woods from the power pole they had been on. Had mostly black feathers
but still some white downy feathers around the neck spigs on the back . No
parents seen . would they be on their own or still cared for by the
adults? For atlas purposes would that be confrimed or just possible ? I
would guess its confrimed. On 7 - 24 back at Rt 304 near 301 heading in to
Centreville near the park and ride on that same side of the road was a
Solitary Sandpiper in a ditch with some some water chasing and eating
tadpoles. quite interesting to see.. Central Sod farms on John Brown Rd had
7 killdeer and 1 Horned Lark.
Happy Birding
