The purported Glaucous Gull reported from Mispillion Light in Delaware on
Sunday, was, in fact, a leucistic Great Black-backed Gull. The folks who
bird there regularly have informed me that one has been frequenting that
spot for serveral years. That would explain the adult bill on a bird that,
to me, had an immature mantle. Standard issue gulls are tough enough,
without genetic sports! Back to shorebirds and sparrows!!!!
