Two friends and I played hookey to tromp through Howard County's Rockburn
Park this morning. The highlight was 10+ Bobolink, very unexpected in
eastern Howard. They were in a horse pasture next to the park out the road
from the so-called haunted house, for anybody who may cover the area in
tomorrow May Count.
We totalled 13 Blackpoll Warblers, 3 Yellow, 11 Common Yellowthroat, 2
BT Blue, 1 Hooded, a latish Myrtle, 3 Magnolia, 1 Redstart, 2 Chats.
Another nice surprise was an American Kestrel on the power lines near the
park's HQ. Two Wood Ducks were also a bit unexpected, but I guess they
shouldn't have been. There were also two White-throated Sparrows.
