The arboretum was quite crowded on 5/8/05 with folks looking at the azaleas and whatnot, and although we did not arrive until mid-day, we still managed to do OK. Got four more year-birds, putting us in reach (194) of our original goal of 200 for 2005:
* Bald Eagle (this was actually over the Anacostia on Route 50, coming in to DC)
* Mockingbird
* Chipping Sparrow
* Yellow-Rumped Warbler (they seemed to be EVERYWHERE)
* Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher
* RED-EYED VIREO (in the Azalea collection)
* Northern Cardinal
* BALTIMORE ORIOLE (one seen, another heard. On the hill approaching the Asian Collection)
* CEDAR WAXWING (8+, on the same hill, between the pond and the Asian Collection. Finally!)
* Eastern Towhee
* White-Throated Sparrow (heard)
* Great Blue Heron (flyover)
* Grey Catbird
* American Crow
* Rock Pigeon
* ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK (female, in the Azalea Collection)
