I was just filling one of my small hanging feeders with black oil without
taking down. I removed the top and had the scoop poised to pour the seed in
when a red breasted nuthatch landed on the branch that the feeder is hanging
from ... about 18 inches from my head. I stopped moving and watched it eye
the seed in the scoop. I hoped it would venture down closer and extract a
seed or two, but after about 20 seconds, it decided to fly off. What a
great experience!
