Subject: Rock Creek Park Wildlife Meeting 3/29/05
Date: Fri, 18 Mar 2005 17:36:36 +0000
The Town Hall meeting on wildlife and infrastructure
problems in and near Rock Creek Park, which was
postponed due to weather, has been reschuduled for
Tuesday March 29. It is co-hosted by Councilmember
Adrian Fenty, and Park Superintendent Adrienne
Coleman. It should be interesting to hear from the
Park as to plans and happenings, esp. to learn more
about the coyotes that arrived last fall. Besides
that, it's important that the views of those of us who
care about the birds and other wildlife are
represented. The park people may need our support, if
past such meetings are a guide, so I'm told.
This description is from Mr. Fenty's newsletter:
"Tuesday, March 29: I and Rock Creek Park
Superintendent Adrienne Coleman will co-host a Town
Hall meeting on wildlife (including deer and coyotes)
and infrastructure problems in and bordering on Rock
Creek Park at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center (5200
Glover Road, N.W.), beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dr. James
Sherald and Scott Bates from the National Park
Service, Kevin Sullivan from the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, and Maria Hille from the D.C. Department
of Health will answer questions from the community.
Representatives from Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes
Norton's office and the District's Department of
Transportation (DDOT) have been invited as well. This
event was previously postponed due to inclement
weather."
I'm planning to go, and hope others will too.
