Lisa Shannon and I saw the Lapland Longspur amongst the Horned Larks this
morning. They were a little south of a (the?) rough area in the northern
area of the polo field. The birds were in mowed grass as well as along a
dirt driveway, just south of a rough area with 8 horses. To the north of
all this a soccer match was in progress. This was from about 9 to 10 am.
Dave Czaplak said on December 3:
"Midday at the polo field on Hughes Road, 50 horned Larks and one Lapland
were feeding in the rougher area where they are keeping horses now, at the
north end of the field."
Later, we made unsuccessful three passes to look for the Sandhill Crane..
