Hi --

We went down to Chesapeake Beach to meet some birding friends (in town from
Texas) for lunch at the Rod n' Reel -- in front of the restaurant, a single
male LONG-TAILED DUCK. Looking beautiful but perhaps a bit ill.... Offshore
quite a few Forster's Terns and two BONAPARTE'S GULLS among the commoner
species (still many Laughing Gulls around).

North Beach Boardwalk was a bit barren, but a female SURF SCOTER and 2-3
COMMON LOONS enlivened the view. A large flock of Bufflehead well offshore
and a flock of Canvasbacks flying by.

Last night (at 10 pm) as we let the dogs out for a last run, a flock of
TUNDRA SWANS flew over our home in Colesville, so low that the dogs barked
at them! Wow!

p.s. Write letters to your State legislator about the proposed sale of state
lands, and be sure to mention the ones in your district! I have been told by
state legislators in the past that they consider one letter/email to
represent ~1000 constituents so the more letters the better!
