Hello.

This morning I birded at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens from about 8-11
am. The birds suggested the approaching winter, but the weather (and the
mosquitos) felt more like summer.

The good news is that the flooding has subsided, and it is again
possible to walk out through the impoundments and to the boardwalks. The
grassy paths between the impoundments are still too muddy for easy
walking, but the sandy trail around the perimeter is fine. I had seven
species of sparrow, including all three local Melospiza species. Most of
these were at the start of the boardwalk or in the brush between the
overlooks.

PIED-BILLED GREBE
Great Egret
Wood Duck
AMERICAN WIGEON
American Black Duck
Killdeer
WILSON'S SNIPE
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Eastern Towhee
Field Sparrow
SAVANNAH SPARROW
Song Sparrow
LINCOLN'S SPARROW
Swamp Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
RUSTY BLACKBIRD

Elsewhere in DC... Very few waterfowl were present at Georgetown
Reservoir at noon today. A few Killdeer were on the dike along with a
large group of Ring-billed Gulls. Black and Turkey Vultures were both
present. ... A late afternoon trip to the National Arboretum produced
only a few Sharp-shinned Hawks. The fall foliage definitely made the
trip worthwhile, though.

Good birding,
