The park was very birdy on this beautiful fall morning. I'm putting
together my own list of sightings at Sandy Point, which is about 3 miles
from our house. Was wondering if anyone knows of other official/unofficial
lists?
The winter waterfowl have not arrived yet...
Species seen, in no particular order:
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (3+, very active and almost tame. One almost landed on
me, before deciding I wasn't a tree!)
EASTERN BLUEBIRD (1)
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER (2, Myrtle race)
Eastern Pheobe (3-4. Popping up all over)
Eastern Towhee (m and f)
Mockingbird
Downy Woodpecker
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Blue Jay (10+)
Red-Winged Blackbird (2, very bright colors)
Cardinal
Song Sparrow (numerous)
Likely White-Throated Sparrow (faded)
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
American Crow (100+)
Herring Gull (winter plumage)
Laughing Gull (winter plumage)
Ring-Billed Gull
D-C Cormorant (15+)
Mallard
Great Blue Heron (2)
Canada Goose (250 or so, coming into land outside the park)
