A House Wren has been eating Cicadas. I saw its little head
being used as a hammer on one, with pauses for nibbling and
swallowing.
[BTW, soft begging noises were heard yesterday for the
first time this year from the wren box, and food is
being carried into the box.]
Regarding the two comments on Yellow-billed Cuckoo
frequency, I am hearing/seeing them regularly in Leakin Park
recently, which has not been true in the previous four
years I've birded the park. Once in a while you'd have
one. We also heard one about a week ago from our yard;
which is a first.
