What a great day for birding!
There were a couple of noteworthy things for me today. I saw a poor
Red-tailed Hawk being harrassed by a black bird. It was far, but I think it
was a Crow. Do they do that? I'm used to seeing Crows being harrassed (by
Mockingbirds mostly), not doing the harrassing.
Another thing that I enjoyed this afternoon and into the evening were Blue
Jays playing in my backyard. There were almost a dozen of them at one time.
Are they hatching and leaving the nest already? They seemed to imitating
one another and I thought they might be young and learning. Even if they
weren't, they were definitely full of the spring spirit - like all the kids
in the neighborhood - enjoying the gorgeous day.
