I went on a little walk this morning around my neighborhood. I saw and
heard some interesting birds.

I had Pileated Woodpecker drumming and calling at two different spots
about a quarter mile apart. I couldn't determine if it was 2 birds or 1
but I will try to find out. I hope it is 2 different birds. Also saw and
heard Downy and Red-bellied Woodpecker and Northern Flickers.

At a Bluebird box in the Susquehanna State Park campground, Bluebirds
appear to be nesting.

At another Bluebird box, there were a pair of Bluebirds sitting on a
wire above it while 8-10 Tree Swallows flew around the box. Who will win?

I also saw Bluebirds going in and out of a box on my property. It was a
good day for Bluebirds.

Other birds seen and heard were Brown Thrasher singing, Towhee, Chipping
Sparrow.

When I got back to the house, I heard my first Louisiana Waterthrush of
the year. My girlfriend and I were out for a walk last evening and I was
telling her that I had not heard one yet. Now I have.

Spring is definitely here. Birds are singing everywhere.

In tune with the season, here is a cartoon you might enjoy -

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
