Hi all-
I tried in vain this morning to relocate the empid that Paul Z. had =
found yesterday at Black Hill Park in Mongomery County, MD. However, I =
ran across another birder on his way to the site as I was leaving, so =
maybe he had better luck than I.
Still, it was worth getting up early:
(possible) BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE- on Lake View Loop close to the water. =
I heard it call twice, but could not locate it. Song was lower pitched =
and slower than Carolina. I am hesitant to assert that it was a BC =
because I've read that Carolina's have been known to make calls similar =
to BC's. Plus there's that whole hybrid thing. Had I more experience =
with BC's, I may have been able to be more certain. So, I'm leaving it =
as a possible BC Chickadee.
PURPLE FINCHES- 2 females at the top of Lake View Loop.
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES- 2 on Lake View Loop near water.
RUSTY BLACKBIRDS- 5 or 6 at top of Lake View Loop.
BUFFLEHEAD- pair visible from parking area near Rte 121 bridge.
SAVANNAH SPARROW- 1 below parking area near Rte 121 bridge.
