A beautiful day. Sunshine, leaves turning, birds still around. The
sighting of the day was a MERLIN, perched on a bare branch in the picnic
area. This bird stayed put for quite awhile; finally we decided to move
on. We saw 5 warbler species: yellow-rumped (lots), blackpoll (5-6),
black-throated green, black-throated blue, and redstart. Two
blue-headed vireos were singing in different parts of the park.
Ruby-crowned kinglets were everywhere; golden-crowned kinglets also
around. Overall, 21 birders saw 51 species of birds.
