Hi Ospreyers,
Saturday Morning I stopped at the Youghiougheny Reservoir (where I saw
lots of shorebirds a number of weeks ago). I did not see a single shorebird
(not even a Killdeer). The water was running high on the bank and there was
very little exposed mud.
I did see several Palm Warblers in the open area and lots of Tennessee
Warblers back along the trail, A single Blackburnian, Chestnut-sided & Blackpoll
Warblers, Swainson's Thrush etc. Out in the open area where the shorebirds
should have been, a nice LINCOLN's Sparrow sat up in some brushy stuff long
enough to get the scope on it along with a couple Song Sparrows, Swamp Sparrows
and a Field Sparrow.
The following day at North Branch on the C&O canal I saw a WILSON's
Warbler. I had no luck locating the imm. Red-headed Woodpecker that was seen
there on the Fall Count last weekend. At the shorebird ponds there were about
14 Killdeer and 2 Pectoral Sandpipers and another Lincoln's Sparrow that perched
on the chain-link fence.
Since it is not in MD, I promise I won't mention the Gray Cheeked Thrush
that I saw at Cooper's Rock SF, WV or the Philadelphia Vireo that I saw there on
Saturday before I arrived at Youghiougheny Reservoir. Oops, did I accidentally
mention that ???
