20 September 1999
Spent almost two hours yesterday in the Hughes Hollow area yesterday. =
Very slim pickings; no birds on wires along River Road, but did see 18 =
Rough-winged Swallows feeding over the buttonbush swamp. Best find was =
an immature Common Moorhen feeding among the duckweed in the large =
impoundment near the causeway.
=20
On the way I saw at least 25 Broad-winged Hawks in 3 groups near River =
Road and the beltway and another 3 near Potomac , but none the rest of =
the way to Seneca or at Hughes Hollow. I guess they knew the quickest =
way south was along I-95.
