For those thinking of taking Marshall Iliff's suggestion to be on the Smith
Island ferry: the ferry is operated by Smith Island Cruises-Tyler,
telephone 410-425-2771.  I was just assured on the phone that the ferry
will be operating tomorrow, Saturday, September 18.  The cost is $22 for a
round trip, leaving at 10 AM and returning 4 PM.  I was told there is no
need to make a reservation ahead, just show up at the boat with your $22.
The boat leaves from near "the only store" within Point Lookout State Park.
