Today I took the morning off and went down to to Allen's Fresh and Cobb Neck to Rock Point, Banks Odee Road (BO Rd.), and Morgantown Road looking for migrants. All in Charles County. Not too much activity but better than working. Highlights were a nice kettlle of about 20 Black Vultures near Newburg, two Bald Eagles at Allen's Fresh (AF), five American Kestrels on the wires at the Bowling Farm, two Wood Ducks on Swann Point Road (SP Rd.), about 200 Great Black-backed Gulls between Morgantown and Cobb Island, three Caspian Terns at Morgantown, two Belted Kingfishers at AF, two at SP Rd., five Red-breasted Nuthatches on SP Rd., and an Acadian Flycatcher on BO Rd. The warbler list is thin. Four Magnolia's along SP Rd., a very fresh male Yellow-throated at Rock Point at the Catholic Church parking lot, Pines several places, two Black and White on SP. Rd., and American Redstarts several location. Savannah sparrows are in at AF. Hornlarks are also in the fields. On Monday, September 12 I had a Golden-winged Warbler at the abandoned sewage treatment plant in Bryan's Road,( a town not a street) MD. I have a new E-mail address at home which is where I am writing this report. The address is gmjett@erols.com. I would appreciate any good bird reports. If I find any exceptional birds worth a report, I will post them. Just wanted to make contact. Cheers.
