Thank you to everyone for the advice on avoiding an
embarassing pelagic <g>. The MD did prescribe the
phenergan medication for me because I had complained about
the drowsiness of over-the-counter medications. I had a bad
experience while a youngster that has colored my approach to
pelagics ever since, but I have yet to....hmmm....I won't tempt
fate. Anyway, thank you all. We are looking primarily for MD
birds on this trip, which is why we have signed up for two! The
only MD trip we have been able to take is the Nov 91 trip on
the OC Princess that many of you may remember. All other
planned trips have washed out. Sigh.
Now for the E. Shore. Norm and I spent the weekend on the
shore catching some MD and county birds. We picked up
Sedge Wren at Truitt's Landing Road, too, but dipped on the
White-faced Ibis. We watched for the better part of the
afternoon last Saturday, and found one bird with a seemingly
"fleshy colored face" that we could not relocate after first view.
That bird was promising, but not a good enough sight for a
call. We also found our nemesis (MD) Piping Plovers on
Sunday after walking a few miles on Assateague and straining
our eyes. At least one eye was straining, the other tried hard
to avoid the nude bathers! <g>
Many thanks to Charlie Vaughn for our successful Wicomico
Osprey. We have had trouble with Wicomico for some
reason, but added quite a few birds this weekend.
Best birding to all.....
Fran
