On Sun 5/23, while Steve Sanford watched a Least Bittern in the marsh
(or so he claimed ), Pete Webb & I observed a PPlover on the Cape May beach.
The bird was apprx 30 yds away, it pushed its right foot completely into the
sand, withdrew it and then did a bit of pecking in the sand. Retrieving some
food? He performed this maneuver several times always with the same foot.
'Twas a fascinating bit of behavior.
