Hello all,
Walked around behind my house this evening to see if i could find any
new migrants. Here is the migrant list:
Myrtle Warbler - 4
House Wren - 1 see below
Gray Catbird - 4
Brown Thrasher - 2
Yellow Warbler - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Solitary Sandpiper - 1
Green Heron - 1
Rough-winged Swallow - 2
This is the second House Wren I have seen this year. The first was close to
a month ago at Harford Glen 4/5. I am beginning to believe the Harford Glen
bird may have wintered there considering I never saw it after that during my
many visits. Well the question is this: The two House Wrens I saw differed
in the distinctiveness of their eyebrow. The one I saw today had an almost
nonexistant eyebrow, while the one I saw earlier had a very prominent
eyebrow. Slightly more prominent then the bird in the NGS guide. The bird
today looked more like the one in the American Bird Conservancy's All the
Birds with almost no eyebrow. Is this a difference is subspecies or does it
just vary?
