Hello all,
After seeing a fair amount of Broad-wingeds at Manassas Battlefield earlier
in the morning, I thought Snickers might offer a few more, even though
Snickers is not known for its spring hawk flight. There is no organized
count in spring.
I arrived at Snickers Gap at about 12:30, and was soon joined by a couple
other people, and eventually we totaled five.
The wind was steady, about 10-15 mph from the W and WNW. The sky was almost
100% clouds for most of the day, and about 50% later in the afternoon. The
hawk flight was modest.
For the day:
Osprey: 10
Sharpie: 3
Broad-winged: 45
Red-tailed: 2
Red-shouldered: 1
Kestrel: 1
