       Hi Gail, I was at Black Hill on Friday and saw 3 or 4
       Red-headed Woodpeckers.  I saw them from the paved hiker/biker
       paved path that starts at the cul-de-sac at the end of Spinning
       Wheel Dr (off Waters Land Road). I  walk about 1/4 to 1/2 a
       mile on the paved path until you come to open water and the
       beginning of dead trees.  They are in the dead trees on either
       side of the water.  One has a favroite tree at the near side of
       the water where the stream ends and the open water begins (I
       have been watching this bird on about a weekly basis - It has
       been there all winter.).   That  tree is fairly close,
       otherwise you will need  a scope to get a close look of the
       birds on the other side of the water.  (Also a good place to
       get close views of ducks although many have left). You can also
       walk through the woods from the other side.  I have also seen
       them on the dead trees near the boat ramp, but I have not
       checked there recently. Let me know if you have any questions.
