A short day; Mason Neck was birded 0730-0930 and Accotink Bay and
surroundings 1000-1130. Highlights only follow:
Wood Duck 14 at Mason and 24 at Accotink inland area, Lesser Scaup 100 at
Mason, Com. Merg 2 at Mason and 8 at Accotink, Ruddy Duck 500 at Mason 40 at
Accotink, Osprey 8 at Mason and 5 at Accotink, Bald Eagle 2 at Mason (1 ad)
and 4 at Accotink Bay (2 ad), Boneparte Gull 1 at Mason and 2 at Accotink,
Caspian Tern 1 at Mason, Forster's Tern 3 at Accotink, Red-headed Woodpecker
1 at Mason, Rough-winged Swallow 1 at Mason, RC Kinglet 2 at Mason and
Accotink, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 2 at Mason and Accotink, Hermit Thrush 3 at
Mason, Palm Warbler 1 at Mason and Chipping Sparrows singing everywhere!
Oh, in Calvert Co., Lusby, after the storm this afternoon I noted 4
Sharp-shinned Hawks.
