Remembering your interest in and opposition to House Bill 906, legislation to allow Sunday hunting, we wanted to update you on the status of the bill.

As you may have heard by now, in spite of our votes in opposition, HB 906 was passed by the House earlier this week by a vote of 82-53. The bill as passed was somewhat improved from its original language by amendments that require hunters to use a bow and arrow, not a gun, and require that the hunting must occur on private property with written permission from the owner. However, even with this amended language, we do not believe that Sunday hunting is necessary or wise, and we voted against HB 906.

The Senate version of this legislation, Senate Bill 566, has not yet been voted on by the Senate's Economic and Environmental Affairs Committee. You may want to contact that Committee directly (at local phone #301-858-3661) to notify the Members of your opposition and to urge them to defeat the bill in Committee. If neither bill is passed by the Senate, the legislation will be defeated for the year.

We appreciate your continuing interest in this important issue, and will keep you informed as to the final status of HB 906.

Sincerely,
Delegate William A. Bronrott
Delegate Marilyn Goldwater
Delegate Nancy K. Kopp
