Hello,
Here are a few highlights from the weekend in Carroll County:
Saturday, March 27 - 2 Fox Sparrows at Hashawha Env. Center; 2
Green-winged Teal and 3 Ring-necked Ducks on a sediment pond in
Westminster, 4 Pintail at Westminster Reservoir, and a late Tree Sparrow
on a neighbor's feeder here in Eldersburg.
Sunday, March 28 - At McKeldin Area of Patapsco Valley SP were my first
Chipping Sparrow and Pine Warbler of the season. Other highlights were a
flock of about 15 Myrtle Warblers, 3 Fox Sparrows, lots of Juncos
singing, and a pair of Wood Ducks landing in a tree about 75 feet up. At
Piney Run Park were 2 Gadwall, 20 Black Ducks, 4 Green-winged Teal, 7
Lesser Scaup, 1 immature male Surf Scoter (present for a month), 20
Buffleheads, 1 Hooded Merganser, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 200 Coots, 3
Killdeer, 40 Ring-billed Gulls, 3 Herring Gulls (1 in breeding plumage),
and 1 Osprey, the earliest record ever for Carroll County.
