The St. Mary's County, MD Kelp Gull had still not shown up on, Thursday, March 11, 1999, when I stopped by again between 4:50 and 5:20 p.m., despite over a dozen birders (many from out-of-state, and two repeat "dippers") looking from late morning until when I left. The Sea Breeze manager said that the Kelp Gull had been there around 11 a.m.-ish, but had flown off with most of the gulls that had been there earlier. It had been there yesterday when Jane and I saw it around 5 p.m. The folks at the Sea Breeze Restaurant have offered to give updates. You may call them at 301-373-5217. Today is a gift. That's why they call it the PRESENT.
