Could you see which direction the gull flew?  Upriver (St. Mary's / Charles
County) or across the river (to Calvert County)?

Ospreyers,
 
I ventured down to the Sea Breeze Restaurant this evening to have another look at the Kelp Gull (but really to sample the Cream of Crab Soup I kept hearing about!)  I was satisfied on both accounts-the gull was sitting nicely on a piling behind the restaurant where I watched him for a good 20 minutes or so.  The soup was great and  I was able to watch the gull from my seat in the restaurant until it flew off at about 5:45 P.M.
