Sea Ducks on Chesapeake

Thanks to all who provided info on sea ducks on the Chesapeake. We had
a great trip yesterday. As predicted by Jim Stasz, we got great looks
at Oldsquaw, Common Goldeneye, and Horned Grebe from the Choptank River
Fishing Bridge. Surf Scoters were visible from the pier at Matapeake
State Park.
The following birds were seen at Blackwater NWR:
Great Blue Heron 5
Turkey Vulture 10
Snow Goose 1000's
Canada Goose 1000's
Tundra Swan 10
Mallard 25
Northern Shoveler 20
Northern Pintail 15
Green-winged Teal 5
Bald Eagle 10
Northern Harrier 3
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
Red-tailed Hawk 4
Killdeer 3
Ring-billed Gull 75
Mourning Dove 7
Belted Kingfisher 3
Red-bellied Woodpecker 2
Downy Woodpecker 3
Northern Flicker 1
Carolina Chickadee 3
Brown-headed Nuthatch 2
Brown Creeper 1
Carolina Wren 3
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Golden-crowned Kinglet 3
Hermit Thrush 2
Northern Mockingbird 3
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Song Sparrow 15
White-throated Sparrow 20
White-crowned Sparrow 10
Northern Cardinal 5
Red-winged Blackbird 30
American Goldfinch 15
Also at Hooper's Island we were able to see several adult Northern
Gannets flying offshore plus a Double-crested Cormorant and Common Loon.
