From: Jim Felley Subject: Red-shouldered Hawk at Shady Grove station An adult Red-shouldered Hawk was hunting in the wooded ditch on the east side of the Shady Grove metro station last night around 5:00 PM. Since rats are a component of the fauna there, I will look for it again. It didn't seem at all disturbed by the commuters, Ride-on buses or cars, all bustling about within 20-30 feet of the bird. Don't forget, the birds are where you find them! Jim Jim Felley Smithsonian Institution irmss668@sivm.si.edu
