Birding at O.C. on 1/16

Hello all,
Sorry for a late report, I was tired in the past two days. I came
home on Tues. night after spent a week at my grandparents' to watch over
my ill grandfather. I took a break on Sat. the 16th to do some birding
at O.C. Well, the Common Mergansers numbers are down last week after
seeing a good number during the Worcester Co. CBC.
O.C. Inlet
15 Common Loon
8 Red-throated Loon
16 Double-crested Cormorant
5 N. Gannet (offshore)
84 Bonaparte's Gull
306 Ring-billed Gull
290 Herring Gull
103 Great Black-backed Gull
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull (1st winter resting on south jetty)
1 Black-headed Gull (1st winter in ocean with a flock of Bonaparte)
4 Forster's Tern
1 Am. Oystercatcher (on south jetty)
53 Purple Sandpiper (both jetties)
44 Ruddy Turnstone (both jetties)
4 Harlequin's Ducks (both pairs in water at south jetty)
5 Common Eiders (2 adult males, 1 imm. male & 1 adult female south
of south jetty)
17 Red-breasted Merganser
14 Surf Scoter
18 Black Scoter
388 Rock Dove
216 European Starling
24 "Slate-colored" Junco (seen at several pines near Coast Guard
Station)
