The bluebook for VA lists 2 older records for Thayer's Gull in our area. 
one bird, Arlington 19 Feb 1978
one bird, Hunting Creek 10 and 16 Sep and 5 Nov 1978

These two records were before the records committee was formed and do not have
photos. I do not know if there is any doc for these sightings.  A new
annotated checklist is now under way.  I do not know whether these sightings
will be included.
