Wow! How many Iceland Gulls are around this winter?
I saw what I called an Iceland Gull twice this morning -- once at
Greenbelt Lake and a few hours later flying upstream along Beaver Dam
Creek in the Beltsville Ag center. These spots are only a couple miles
from your bird. I now wish I got a better look at the flyby since the
Greenbelt Lake bird may have been as old as third winter, based on its
solid, light grey mantle. However, it also had a relatively dark eye, and
a black tipped bill; both of which I believe suggest second winter.
