     Picked this up from TexBirds (I'm off to the Rio Grande Valley in

     I just got a mailing from the National Geographic Society to order the 
     new Third Edition NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FIELD GUIDE TO THE BIRDS OF 
     NORTH AMERICA. It says "Completely revised and updated."  They've 
     added 75 new species. Also has lots of new plates by new artists, from 
     what I can tell, with more detail on different plumages, etc.  It's 
     19.95 for softcover and 24.95 for hardcover plus S&H.  They start 
     shipping in May '99.  Thought I'd pass it on.
