Hi all,
I went to the Dulles Greenway this morning. Pretty slow day but had
White-crowned, Song, Swamp, and Savannah Sparrows. Other higlights
included many Cedar Waxwings and Eastern Bluebirds and a Northern
Harrier and a Red-tailed Hawk.
The Dulles Pond was really good today, best I've seen it this year.
There were a lot of Ruddy Ducks, but fewer than the past couple
weekends, 4 Hooded Mergansers, 1 Bufflehead, and 1 Ring-necked Duck. I
was happy to see the mergansers finally got here. Last year their
numbers got up to about 10 at one time. The Bufflehead was interesting,
I had never seen one at the pond before. Gulls are also starting arrive
in numbers. Well that's pretty much it, so good birding.
Later,
Alex
