Hi all,
I had a great morning of birding yesterday on Monocacy Bottom Rd. I saw
many White-Crowned, White-Throated, Swamp, Field, and Song Sparrows,
but
the highlight was a group of five FOX SPARROWS scratching around in the
leaf litter by the side of the road like little towhees.
Other highlights: a very cooperative WINTER WREN only 2 ft. away; three
HOODED MERGANSERS (one female, two males), two GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, (2
females), and a pair each of Belted Kingfishers, Downies, and Flickers.
Also a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker and a large flock of Cedar Waxwings.
I was also at Waggoner's Gap on Saturday - by the time I left at 2 PM, 18
GOLDEN EAGLES had flown over! Also hundreds of Red-Tailed Hawks,
some
Sharpies and Coops, and a few Red-Shoulders.
Not a bad weekend!
