Backyard Hawkwatch - northeast Baltimore City - Fall 1998 -White Ave. between Belair Rd. and Walther Ave. Windy and almost cold this morning, but still warm with alot of sun. In the afternoon became warmer with light breeze and wind from the north. Huge kettle of Broadwings came in a hurry after 11:00am for three minutes, it seems to me that this kettle knew that the cold front just arrived today. Also cold front brought 1207 Canada Geese and 1 Snow Goose in 32 flocks along with 13 Goldfinches and 17 Blue Jay. Monarch still moving in. Interested birds visit my yard while watching hawks, a female Yellow Warbler at 5:58pm checked out bushes around old fish pond (new pond, 16' by 6' with natural setting and 2' fall waterfall will be ready by early spring 1999), male Evening Grosbeak and female Purple Finch seen in one of maple trees.
